Unforgettable – S3 Ep7 – TV Show
Eliot’s Wife: You wouldn’t understand. Eliot: What wouldn’t I understand? C’mon Shelby, lay it on me. What possible reason could I have given you for having an affair with one of my closest friends? Eliot’s Wife: I never slept with Dave. Eliot: Aspen? Hmm? Yeah. I know about Aspen. Eliot’s Wife: I…Dave just…he happened to be there. And I’m glad he was. Eliot: Secret rendezvous at Jeffrey’s? Eliot’s Wife: We had drinks. Eliot: How did your makeup get on his hand. We found it. It’s a little forensics thing we do. Eliot’s Wife: This is why…you know…we don’t know each other anymore, Eliot. I mean, you don’t know me. Eliot: No. I don’t. Fine, what…You…want us to go back to Sharon (marriage counselor)? Because I’m pretty sure she’s gonna say cheating on your husband is not the way to… Eliot’s Wife: I never slept with Dave! That afternoon at the fund-raiser…I, uh…I went early to talk to him…I had made up my mind to leave you. I cried, but I knew I had to do it. Dave talked me out of it. He took my face in his hands, and told me what a wonderful, loving man you are. And that you deserved a second chance. So…there’s your answer to the little forensic thing. What’s my answer (for your lack of trust in me)? That’s what I want to know. This conversation – or words of wisdom – between co-star Eliot and his wife, Shelby was triggered when the investigation into the murder of Eliot’s best friend, Dave, turned up forensic evidence of makeup – a special brand that costs $500 an ounce and was only sold in Belgium – on Dave’s hands. Elliott immediately knew that the makeup belonged to his wife, because he was the one who had purchased it for her as it gift when he was in Belgium. And because they had been going through marital problems, he therefore assumed – when presented with the forensic information – that his wife and best friend were having an affair. BASICALLY: ***This dialouge reveals 3 things of great value:1. Never assume to know something without solid proof. In other words, never assume something to be true unless you know for sure – have factual evidence. Assumptions have created limitless amounts of problems throughout the history of the world, not to mention, in people’s very own households. 2. Communication is the key to solving any and every problem. A willingness to speak, and – most importantly – listen is the surefire way to reach any truth, compromise, or solution. Questions and expressions are the pathway to all progressions.3. The value of a true friend is priceless. A true friend always sees the best parts of you, and makes sure the rest of the world does too. It is a love and support that is neverending |
