“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting.”
These words of suggestion and observation come from Ralph Waldo Emerson, who according to Wikipedia, was an American essayist, lecturer, philosopher, abolitionist and poet who led the transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century.
After meditating on these words of suggestion and observation while out for an early morning walk, I was moved to write the following poem upon my return home.
Beauty is God’s Handwriting
Beauty can be found
Above, below, around
A cloud in the sky
A bird flying by
The leaves on the trees
The colors one sees
The movement of insects
A puddle that reflects
There’s beauty in all things
In all things there’s beauty
In the sweetest melody.
Softest tone or symphony.
Gentle breeze caressing skin.
Breathing out and breathing in
In (the) silence of (the) night
In a new day’s rising light.
In, “I am in love with you.â€
As well as, “I love you, too.â€
There’s beauty in all things
In all things there’s beauty
An understanding in the soul
That all are small parts of the whole
Authentic creations from the source
Energy particles from the force
Beautiful beauty in all its forms
Nurtured by sunshine, shattered by storms
Uplifted, downsized, here, and then gone
Beauty’s within, without, and beyond
There’s beauty in all things
In all things there’s beauty
To see, hear, and feel it
Is every soul’s duty
