Let It Be Known

(L.U.V. Letters and Life Lessons)

From 2001-2003, John “Coach” McHale wrote an individual letter to every student in every class he taught. Let It Be Known is centered around 41 of those nearly 400 “End-of-year” letters, which best showcase the various personalities that make up a classroom and pay tribute to those students who taught, touched, and transformed their teacher’s life.

Interwoven between John “Coach” McHale’s letters to his students are short, inspiring stories of the people, circumstances, and events that have had the greatest bearing on his own life’s journey. John candidly shares the lessons that have shifted his direction and shaped his perspective up to and throughout his teaching career.

Lastly, Let It Be Known takes a deep and intimate look into the impact the loss of a teenager had on an entire community – particularly the father – and explores the relentless determination that enabled four phenomenal former students to overcome long odds and large obstacles to make their dreams a reality.

Let It Be Known is filled with essential lessons for everyone of all ages, particularly for teachers, who spend a great deal of their lives interacting with students year after year. Not only will teachers be able to relate to the various groups of students that make up the varying categories of letters, but they will also be reminded of and moved by the little things that make a huge difference in the lives of their students. Some of these issues and inspirations include:

* Lessons that last beyond the class: the influence that shapes and shifts one’s students throughout life.

* The importance of knowing one’s students well enough to know when they are not doing well.

* The power of spoken words, as well as the long-lasting impact of those put in writing: Letters liberate.

* Building bonds and creating connections through innovative and inspirational activities.

* The importance of delivering painful information or hard truth in a soothing and humorous manner.

* How trials and tribulations often bring priceless revelations.

* Finding the best in the worst circumstances; How to be a professional lemonade-maker.

* Communication that leads to elevation: listening, understanding, empathizing, and validating.

* Never too old to learn, never too young to teach.

* To whom much is given, much is expected; Always putting the person before the pupil.

Be it through letters or life lessons, Let It Be Known enlightens, enlivens, and inspires. If your mind and soul are moved by insight, awareness, and the resilience of indomitable spirits, this book is custom-made for you.
